I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Music Education with an emphasis on Piano from Carson-Newman College. I have over 30 years experience in private piano instruction.

I utilize the various graded series of Alfred piano instruction materials and additional supplementary materials predicated upon the progress of each student. I also present my students in recital 2 times per year ... once during the Christmas holidays with students playing Christmas music exclusively and the other in late spring, coinciding with the close of the school year. At the latter referenced recital, students perform classical and various other types of music.

I am a member of the Chattanooga Music Teacher's Association, the State Association, and the National Association.

I am one of three individuals listed with Steinway and Sons as a music teacher in the Chattanooga area.

I follow the Hamilton County School's Semester system for my teaching program, such that I have a Fall semester commencing around the start of the new school year. This semester usually has 17 lesson weeks and ends with the Christmas Recitals marking the beginning of the Christmas holidays. I then teach a Spring semester that usually runs 19 lesson weeks and ends with the close of school and the Spring Recitals.

During the latter two semesters, I teach 6 days per week (Monday through Saturday). I also have a short Summer session of usually 9 lessons weeks between the Spring and Fall semesters during which I teach on Tuesday through Thursday.

I observe the school system's weeks of Fall and Spring Breaks, plus the week off during Thanksgiving. I have many years of experience in teaching classroom music in both public and private schools. I also have years of experience as a piano accompanist in churches, and with high school and college choruses.

My goal and desire as a private piano instructor is to identify and develop the God-given talents which each student possesses. I understand that every student is different ... in every way ... and it is important and therefore, my intent to recognize potential and seize the opportunities which I have, as an instructor, to challenge each student in a way that will produce the greatest results in musicianship. Because I understand that God expects my best in teaching and conveying to my students the basics in learning to play piano ... I also expect their best in practicing and coming to lessons prepared. I teach all ages ... from preschool (4 yrs.) through adults, and I welcome the opportunity of teaching each one. Lessons are taught at Christ United Methodist Church located at the intersection of East Brainerd and Morris Hill Roads.
